MyStickies

MyStickies is a realy great web tool.

www.mystickies.com

MyStickies is a browser plug-in (I use Firefox) which lets you put a sticky note on any web page your browser can visit. When you come back to the page, your sticky notes is still there, where you left them.

MyStickies is free and they give you an unlimited number of Sticky Pages. It is not avaible for Internet Exployer.

They are like the Post-It scratch pads you use to organize thoughts, keep to-do lists, or write reminders to yourself. I actually wrote this story over time using MyStickies. As ides for the story would come to me, I just added to my notes.

Install the plug-in here:

Once you have the browser extension installed and you’ve closed and restarted your browser, you can start adding sticky notes to the web pages you visit. To add a stickie just:

  1. Press the ALT key and click-drag your note to the desired size Selected text will appear in the note

  2. Press the ALT key and click to create a 200px by 200px note under the cursor Selected text will appear in the note

  3. Right click > mystickies > new Sticky

  4. Toolbar > new Sticky

To change the color of your stickie, put your mouse on the title bar of the stickie and press ALT and your left mouse button. Each time your press the mouse button the color will change.

I always have a consern about security. I don’t know yet where the data is stored. So, I wouldn’t save my ID and passwords to a web site in MyStickies. If all your stickie are stored locally and encryption it would be nice. If your data is storied on one of MyStickies computer? Then there is no way you should put anything personal information on a stickie. Still, for keeping notes about a website, stickies are sweet.

For example, you and your wife both use your online bank account, you can post a red stickie to tell your partner not to make a second car payment because you alrady did. Or, If you are a website development manager, you could post stickies all over your development pages to inform the development teem what you’d like to see changed.

Quick notes are nice in the real world and I think they work even better in the virtural world. This is a wonderfull Web 2.0 invention.
